Participants
Participants in the contest at the Surva, Seventeenth Festival of the Masquerade Games, will be divided into two categories as follows:
Children’s Survakari and Kukeri groups will consist of children of up to 14 years of age;
Survakari and Kukeri groups for adults will be comprised of people of over 14 years of age;

Score components
Representation of features of the masquerade tradition;
Upholding and presenting the local specifics of the tradition;
Maintaining the local tradition with regard to masks and costumes;
Artistic performance;

Groups from foreign countries will not be scored.

Application Documents
Groups from Bulgaria will submit the following no later than December 1, 2007:
Application for entering the contest
Brief history of the group;  
Resume of the custom to be presented;
Pictures and/or video presenting the group;

Groups from abroad will submit their applications, resumes and background materials no later than October 30, 2007. The Organization Committee will send confirmations to the approved groups no later than November 20, 2007.

Experts such as folklorists, ethnographers, culturologists, choreographers, museum workers, and scientists will confirm their participation in the events of the festival no later than December 15, 2007.

Size of the Groups
All Bulgarian groups (of children or adults) must have no more than 40 members.
Groups from foreign countries must not exceed 30 members.

Performance Duration
All Survakari and Kukeri will have 15 minutes to present themselves during the festival parade;
Foreign groups will be allowed 15 minutes to make their presentations at the festival parade and 30 minutes to do so on stage.

Accommodation
All groups will provide for their own accommodation at preferential prices as set forth in the application form;
Accommodation and meals for approved foreign groups will be at the expense of the hosts as stated in the application from;
All the expenses for extra group members will be covered by the groups themselves;
Folklorists, ethnographers, culturologists, choreographers, museum workers, scientists, and guests from Bulgaria will cover their own expenses.

Transportation
All Bulgarian and foreign groups will provide for their own fares.
Experts and guests from Bulgaria will cover their own expenses.
