A science conference on masks as a cultural universal will be held in Pernik during the Surva Festival.
It will be organized by the Folklore Institute with the Bulgarian Academy of Science and the Department of Anthropology of the New Bulgarian University of Sofia and hosted by the Municipality of Pernik.
It will be attended by experts from the Bulgarian Academy of Science and various universities and museums such as folklorists, anthropologists, ethnologists, cultorologists, art and music critics, and so on.
Participation is by invitation after rigorous selection.
The conference on the topic of “Мasquerade - culture legacy and social practice. ” will be held on January 25, 2008 (Friday), from 10.00 AM till 15.30 PM.
The conference director is Dr. Irena Bokova, Senior Research Associate Second Class with the Folklore Institutes with the Bulgarian Academy of Science and New Bulgarian University.
