How to Add/Update Desktop Wallpaper
Windows 95/98/2000/XP
The first thing you'll want to do is determine which resolution your monitor is running. To do this, simply go to the Start menu, then proceed to Settings -> Control Panel -> Display. Click on the Settings tab and check the resolution listed under the Screen Area section.
Now that you know your screen resolution, you can set your desktop wallpaper using one of the following methods:
If you are using Netscape 3.0 or higher or more recent versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer: Simply click on the link to the wallpaper of appropriate resolution and let the image load in your web browser. Then click on the image using your right mouse button. Simply select the Set As Wallpaper option and you're done! (Note: If after following the above procedure your wallpaper doesn't change, go back to the Display control panel and on the Background tab, select "Netscape Wallpaper" from the list of available wallpapers and click Okay. Your wallpaper should now change.)
Otherwise: Click on the link to the wallpaper you want and let the image load in your web browser. Now, save the image to your hard drive by clicking on it with your right mouse button and selecting the Save Image As... or Save Picture As... option. You can rename the file if you wish, but be sure to retain the .jpg extension. Go to the Display Control Panel and under the Background tab set your wallpaper.
Mac OS
The first thing you'll want to do is determine which resolution your monitor is running. To do this, simply go to the Apple menu, then proceed to Control Panels, then chose Monitors or Monitors & Sound or System Preferences > Monitors (this will vary depending on which system software you are running). The screen resolution will be listed in this window.
Now that you know which resolution you are running, click on an appropriate wallpaper link and let the image load in your web browser. Now click and hold on the image with your mouse button. When a menu pops up, select the Save Image As... or Download Image to Disk... option to save the image to your hard drive. You can rename the file if you wish, but be sure to retain the .jpg extension.
If you are running Mac OS X... go back to system Preferences and select Desktop. Now use the Select Picture... button to select the wallpaper you just downloaded. After you have selected your wallpaper, press the Set Desktop button and close the window. You're done!
If you are running System 8.5 to 9.2... go back to the Apple menu and select the Appearance Control Panel. Click on the Desktop tab. If you already have wallpaper on your desktop click on the Remove Picture button to remove your old wallpaper. Now use the Select Picture... button to select the wallpaper you just downloaded. After you have selected your wallpaper, press the Set Desktop button and close the window.
You're done!
